About CVOS - The Climera Verified Offset Standard

CVOS is our next-generation certification framework designed to ensure the highest levels of integrity, transparency, and efficiency in carbon offset markets.

What is CVOS?
CVOS, the Climera Verified Offset Standard, is our comprehensive framework for validating and tracking carbon offset projects. It certifies initiatives that actively remove or avoid carbon emissions by ensuring they meet strict environmental criteria before any carbon credit is issued. Projects are organized into three tiers; Carbon+ (direct carbon sequestration via reforestation, afforestation, and soil enhancement), Nature+ (combining carbon capture with ecosystem restoration and biodiversity improvements), and Blue+ (leveraging marine and coastal ecosystems like mangroves and seagrass beds for carbon absorption).

How CVOS Works:
1. Project Eligibility & Submission: Projects submit detailed proposals and baseline data, which are independently evaluated for additionality, measurability, and permanence.
2. Verification & Certification: Accredited auditors assess each project against global standards (such as ISO 14064, Verra VCS, and Gold Standard). A series of smart contracts handle different aspects of this process to ensure integrity:

  • Earth Asset Certification (EAC) Contract: Registers your physical asset (like farmland or forest) as a unique token. It includes multiple verification functions (e.g., verifyOwnership, verifyLocation, verifyAsset, verifySustainability) that confirm the asset's legitimacy and its potential for carbon sequestration.

  • Earth Asset Project (EAP) Contract: Once your asset is certified, you can create discrete projects linked to it. This contract manages project creation and initial verification, ensuring each sustainability initiative meets the baseline criteria before undergoing further CVOS certification.

  • CVOS Certification Module: Integrated with both the EAC and EAP smart contracts, this module finalizes the certification process. Only after all verification steps are completed and approved by designated CVOS verifiers is the project officially certified.

  • Carbon Credit Token (CCT) Contract: After certification, the verified carbon reduction data is tokenized. This contract issues carbon credits on an immutable blockchain ledger, ensuring each credit is fully traceable from its origin to issuance.

3. Blockchain Integration: The entire process-from asset registration and project verification to carbon credit issuance-is secured by blockchain technology. Every step is recorded immutably, ensuring that each credit is verifiable and tamper-proof.

Why CVOS?
Integrity & Transparency, Efficiency, and Global Impact are at the heart of CVOS. It ensures that all carbon credits are issued only after thorough verification, reducing administrative overhead through smart contract automation and facilitating broad market participation to drive effective climate action.

Benefits for Developers and Buyers:
- For Developers: Gain recognized certification, streamline project approval, and access international carbon markets.
- For Buyers: Purchase verified carbon credits with complete transparency and traceability, knowing each credit is backed by rigorous verification and blockchain records.
